For those who love Ciabatta bread but hates to spend the nearly $4.00 a loaf to buy it….why not try making it yourself…it’s so simple to do.  Best of all it costs only pennies to make.

Not only can you make great sandwiches with it but you can also make garlic bread, or slice it length wise and make pizza…adding any kind of topping you would like….the options are endless.

Here is the recipe

4 cups flour

1/4 tsp yeast

2 cups warm water

1 1/2 tsp salt

Mix together in a bowl, it will first seem dry, then seem too wet, but will come together beautifully…I mix this with a spatula….cover with tin foil and let rise for 18 hours.

Next step

Wet counter with a sponge and lay down a piece of saran wrap, this will keep the saran from moving around. Then flour the saran, turn dough on top….sprinkle flour on the dough and gently form your loaf. Once formed to your liking, carefully pick up the saran and transfer to your baking sheet….make sure to sprinkle your baking sheet with corn meal first so that your loaf doesnt stick.

Cover your loaf with a dry towel and allow it to rise 2 hours.

Preheat oven to 425 and bake for 35 minutes
